Fishing
The quality of the fishing here at Le Chaiseau is one of the delights that
bring our guests back time and again. Our 30-acre lake is well stocked with carp
(up to 45lb), catfish and zander. As part of our ongoing fishery management programme,
another stocking of fish has been made including mirror and grass carp from 10lb
to 45lb. Our fingerling Zander stocking are now being caught at about 45cm in length.
These are having the desired effect upon the enormous shoals of silver fish giving
rise to an improvement in condition and weight of all of our original fish.
There are now four substantial fishing platforms on the dam with stair access.
Winter
fishing produces well - daily bags of 20 - 30 carp can be achieved in the winter
months - and you have the benefit of being able to return to a warm and comfortable
cottage with English TV for the evening only 100 yards from the bankside with several
good restaurants in the area that stay open right through the winter months.
There
are a few rules of the fishery which are for the well being of both the fish and
holidaying anglers, these are:
1. No rod licences are required as it is a totally enclosed private fishery. For
the same reason, there is no closed season
2. Night fishing is allowed but not bank side camping in keeping with the rest of
the site.
3. Unhooking mats are required for those anglers fishing for larger carp (If you
don't have one, we can lend you one)
4. Only barbless hooks are permitted
5. Rods must not be left fishing unaccompanied
6. Rod limits as detailed in Gîte descriptions (4 rods - Le Chardonneret and La Chouette,
6 rods - L'Ecurie and L'Hirondelle)
We have a limited number of rods and reels available for you to hire
(€5 per day, €15 per week, €25 refundable deposit)
