As part of our ongoing fishery management programme, another stocking of fish has been made including mirror and grass carp from 10lb to 45lb. Our fingerling Zander stocking of a few years ago have now started to be caught at about 3lb. These are having the desired effect upon the enormous shoals of silver fish giving rise to an improvement in condition and weight of all of our original fish. But still retaining the possibility of good bags of silver fish
of a better size with either on a waggler or on the pole.
Winter fishing producing well with bags of up to 20 – 30 carp achieved in winter with the comfort of returning to a warm and comfortable cottage with English tv for the evening 100 yards from the bank side.
There are a few rules for the fishery which are for the wellbeing of both the fish and holidaying anglers which are
1. No rod licences are required as it is a totally enclosed private fishery therefore no closed season. ALL FISH MUST BE RETURNED TO THE WATER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER WEIGHING AND PHOTOGRAPHING.
2. Night fishing is allowed but no bank side camping in keeping with the rest of the site.
Umbrellas with storm sides are fine at any time and bivvies may be used from
1st October until the Saturday before Easter. This facility is available for gite customers only.
3. Unhooking mats are required for those anglers who are fishing for carp. Can be lent if required.
4. Barbless hooks only.
5. Rods must not be left fishing unaccompanied.
6. There is a rowing boat available shared between all anglers which may be used for ground baiting purposes, not to drop terminal tackle. Radio controlled bait boats may be used in the same way avoiding the situation where one person blocks whole sections of the lake at distances beyond those which can be cast to.
7. Marker floats to be purpose designed, not items of rubbish eg plastic bottles and to be removed on last day’s fishing.
8. Covered bait bins are situated adjacent to the fishing areas and are used to leave your bait overnight safe from pests. Please do not put rubbish or bottles in these bins.
9. Rod limit as detailed in Gite descriptions
4 rods - Le Chardonneret and La Chouette
6 rods - L’Ecurie and L’Hirondelle
